Information available in this database includes:

• Officiant*
• Date marriage was recorded*
• City or county of recording*
• County book and page number

*Only available in the statewide index for 1966-2005

All of the above information may not be available for every marriage. Records from Clark County for 1956-1966 also contain an image. Some information for these records, such as the county book and page number, may only be obtained by viewing the image.

Marriage records are great sources for genealogists because they document an individual in a particular place and time as well as provide details about that person's marriage. It is important that you use the information found in this database to locate your ancestor in the original records that this index references. Usually more information is available in the records themselves than is found in an index. For example, marriage records sometimes provide the birth dates and places of the bride and groom, their parents' names, their addresses, and witnesses' names, in addition to the information found in this index.

The Office of Vital Records and Statistics has marriage and divorce records after 1969. Prior to that date, marriage records are located in the county recorder’s office where the license was originally obtained.

The Family History Library (FHL) also has copies of many of the county marriage records.
